THRIVE Cultivating Safe Teams Train-the-Trainer EOI now open!
23 Jan 2025
The Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) is delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for veterinary professionals to join the THRIVE Cultivating Safe Teams (CST) pilot program by participating in its Train-the-Trainer facilitator training.
To ensure the long-term sustainability of the CST training, a peer training model will be implemented. In this model, up to 15 veterinary professionals will be selected and trained to serve as facilitators for the CST psychological health and safety awareness training. These individuals will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver CST training to their peers, creating a ripple effect of awareness and fostering a culture of safety and wellbeing across the profession.
The Train-the-Trainer facilitator training is an important component and next phase of the CST pilot program. It builds on the successful delivery of tailored, in-workplace psychological health and safety awareness training to 50 veterinary workplaces across Australia in 2023-24. A key aspect of this initiative is the delivery of a 2-day workshop in Sydney, taking place on 10-11 April 2025, where selected participants will attend an in-depth training session conducted by Aspect Group, designed to equip them with foundational facilitation skills and knowledge about the CST program. This peer-to-peer training model ensures that participants can confidently lead future CST training, helping to build resilience and mental wellbeing within their teams.
Training is fully funded by the AVA, with thanks to the generous support of the Zoetis Foundation, however trainees are responsible for covering their own travel and accommodation expenses.
Interested veterinary professionals who wish to become part of this transformative initiative are invited to submit an application by 17 February 2025, to AVA Executive Officer-Wellness, including a CV and a statement addressing the program’s selection criteria.
Successful candidates will gain access to all necessary resources, including training materials and ongoing support from the AVA Wellness Steering Group and Aspect Group, ensuring they are well-equipped to lead their peers through the CST program. Trainees will have the opportunity to co-facilitate a CST session alongside an experienced Aspect Group facilitator, allowing for real-time learning and mentorship. To support ongoing development and reinforce learning, trainees will participate in online refresher sessions at 6 months and 12 months post-training.
This structure ensures a well-rounded training experience, fostering confidence and competence in delivering CST sessions.
