Wellness spotlight: August 2024

16 Aug 2024

The THRIVE Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Framework aims to support individuals, workplaces, and organisations to implement mental health and wellbeing strategies that positively impact mental health outcomes for all veterinary team members using an integrated approach to wellness.

  1. Preventing harm and mental ill-health from psychosocial hazards in the industry
  2. Promoting mental health and leveraging protective factors such as strengths, capabilities, and rewards of work
  3. Protecting individuals who experience stress and mental ill-health.

The framework is supported by resources that are available to help you to create ways of working that prevent harm, promote good mental health, and protect each other.

This week we are highlighting resources to help promote team strengths and capabilities.

Veterinary Incivility Toolkit

Keeping it civil: A practical guide to managing incivility in veterinary practice

Developed as a large collaboration between the University of Aberdeen and industry experts from organisations such as the RCVS, Being Human, VetLed, and academics from the University of Glasgow and the University of Nottingham, the guide includes information relevant to recognising and managing uncivil behaviour from clients and co-workers.

This helpful guide is designed to help veterinary staff identify the types of incivility that may impact them negatively, provides a range of reflective tools, including scenarios, to help discussion and action around this issue and resources to help identify and implement measures to improve staff well-being.
