WSAVA Professional Wellness Group: Global Guidelines

02 Feb 2024

These Global Guidelines have been developed by the WSAVA Professional Wellness Group (PWG) which was formed to identify the extent of mental health challenges in the world veterinary family and identify and evaluate the resources most suited to preventing or alleviating these challenges. This group, like other WSAVA committees, has produced these guidelines for the benefit of our profession in a form that is publishable in JAVMA.

The guidelines aim to identify and encourage the understanding and use of, a range of wellness strategies to enhance the wellbeing of individuals and groups in veterinary teams. These Global Guidelines outline the challenges facing the profession and encourage veterinary mental health resources to assist their groups and members to improve the wellbeing of all the veterinary teams.

Goals
  • To support the wellbeing and wellness of individual, team, and association members of the global veterinary community.
  • To increase awareness of mental health and its importance within the global veterinary community.
  • To identify, and assist in implementing, appropriate remedies and programmes to improve mental health in the global veterinary community.
