Video proceedings - a better conference experience
19 Jan 2024
With over 120 sessions across 3 days on offer to delegates at the 2024 AVA Conference, it doesn’t take a mathematician to work out that it’s impossible to attend every session. That’s where the AVA’s new initiative of video proceedings will not only enrich your conference experience, but also lighten your decision-making load!
What is a video proceeding?
A video proceeding is a recording of a speaker’s presentation, including the speaker’s slide deck. It’s pre- or post-recorded (i.e., not live recorded at the conference) by the speaker and offers the ability to enable closed captions.
As part of the AVA’s drive to make our events more environmentally sustainable, video proceedings will replace printed proceedings, resulting in a significant reduction in printed material that is traditionally provided at conferences.

What are the benefits of video proceedings?
Presentations that you couldn’t watch in person, or want to review again afterwards, can be viewed at your leisure for a period of 12 months after the conference.
AVA’s expert speakers often share substantial scientific content that can be challenging to recall or note down in a conference environment. Or perhaps a topic that didn’t seem relevant at the time might cross your desk at a later date. Knowing that you can dip in and out of sessions gives you reassurance that you are maximising all the benefits of your delegate registration.
The AVA will allocate CPD to your My CPD record for attending the conference, however if further CPD is attained by completing additional activities in video proceeding, as an AVA member you can manually record the total CPD hours in your My CPD record.

How do I access the video proceedings?
- Step-by-step instructions will be emailed to conference delegates following selected conferences in 2024, including the 2024 AVA Conference.
- Access is via your Record of Learning on My Learning.
- Access will be made available to conference delegates on the AVA’s My Learning Platform for a period of up to 12 months.
- Video proceedings are presented within a course dedicated to the conference, with flexibility provided to self-track completion per video and the course.
Delegates who attended the ACV, Tasmania Division and Western Australia Division Conferences in 2023 have been given access to video proceedings for 12 months afterwards as part of a trial program and initial feedback is extremely positive. As one delegate shared “This is a great initiative and I look forward to dipping back into the sessions over the next 11 months”.
The AVA is excited to bring video proceedings to our members in 2024, maximising your delegate registration and enhancing your overall conference experience. For more information, contact our education team.
