WOAH Gold Medal awarded to Dr Mark Schipp
07 Jun 2024The AVA congratulates its newest Director, Dr Mark Schipp, on his well-deserved recognition from the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH).
In late May, the former Australian Chief Veterinary Officer was presented the prestigious WOAH Gold Medal, awarded to one person annually “in recognition of their outstanding service in the field of veterinary science and their contribution to the scientific and technological development of the Organisation’s activities”.

Dr Schipp accepted the congratulations of the AVA, saying “I am very grateful to my colleagues for having nominated me and to the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) for bestowing upon me the Gold Medal for 2024. It has been my privilege to represent Australia and our region for 12 years supported by our excellent team. In that time we have been able to positively influence the policies and direction of this international standards setting organisation.“
