The Equine Distal Limb and Head Joint Injection and Nerve Block Workshop will be held at the University of Melbourne on Friday 31 May.

Led by Registered Equine Surgical Specialist, Dr Hadley Willsallen, and a team of skilled demonstrators, this wet-lab experience prioritises hands-on learning.

Working in small groups with cadaver distal limbs and heads, attendees will engage in interactive sessions focusing on refreshing and reviewing perineural and intrasynovial diagnostic anaesthesia techniques. This includes comprehensive instruction on anatomical review, needle selection, appropriate volume usage, and expert tips for optimal results.

With a high demonstrator-to-delegate ratio, participants will have ample opportunity to deepen their understanding of equine anatomy and refine their injection skills.

Lifetime Ewe Management Train the Trainer Workshop

Join this Lifetime Ewe Management (LTEM) Train-the-Trainer Workshop for an introduction to the sheep industry’s most influential extension program.   

Participants will hear the Lifetimewool research behind LTEM, delve into what makes the program tick and why it has been so popular and worked so well for many years. Participants will have a chance to hone and test their practical skills in condition scoring, feed on offer assessment and calculating standard reference weight to improve lamb marking percentage, weaning rate and stocking rate, whilst simultaneously reducing ewe mortality rates.

If you want to learn how to have meaningful conversations with your clients feeding raw and home prepared food, this is the workshop for you. A whole day talking about food!

Learn from Drs Kelly Halls and Barbara Royal (and others) how to discuss with authority the merits of different diet choices for dogs and cats. We will cover the basics of nutrition calculations and how to formulate a well-balanced, fresh-food diet. Don’t freak out; no heavy maths as there is good software to use. You will learn how to apply this knowledge not just for healthy animals but also to some commonly encountered chronic ailments.  You will leave the workshop armed with the tools of how to feed your patients better and feel more confidence talking with clients about non-commercial diets.

Veterinary Vigilance: Fortifying Your Practice with Proactive Outbreak Prevention Workshop

Veterinarians and veterinary staff are exposed to disease risks on a daily basis. How do we manage these?  In this workshop, we are utilising a One Health focus to deliver practical strategies and training for management of risks around disease transmission to protect our staff, clients, patients and veterinarians in all types of clinical, field and environmental practice.

The workshop will have a small group focus on strategies around the importance of hand hygiene and the management of AMR, the importance of respiratory protection and proper fit of masks, needleless connectors (their use and maintenance) and types of protective clothing available, their appropriate use, and donning and doffing properly.
