This workshop aims to cover: review of general principles of wildlife rescue, treatment, rehabilitation and release; safety on the fireground; important welfare considerations for burn patients and ethical dilemmas and conflicts; the role of veterinary professionals in bushfire emergencies; classification of burns according to depth and percentage of total body surface area affected; an understanding of the effect of smoke inhalation; thorough evaluation and triage a burn patient; an understanding of the criteria for euthanasia and acceptable methods; appropriate treatment of burn patients including wound management, fluid therapy and pain management; the importance of caloric support and nutrition in treatment and recovery of burn patients; and feeding wildlife during and after a bushfire.

Locking plates have revoluntionised the way we plan and execute fracture repair, however, traditional techniques, such as compression plating and lag screws, are still considered the optimal treatment for a number fracture configurations. In this one-day workshop, participants will discuss how some modern bone plates allow the surgeon to combine both traditional techniques and newer locking technology to provide the most stable fixation for a variety of fracture configurations. Including three practical sessions, participants will get nhands on experience in how to best utilize the versatility of locking plates.

Over 100 board-certified veterinary specialists from around the world collaborated to develop the Reassessment Campaign on Veterinary Resuscitation (RECOVER) evidencebased veterinary CPR guidelines. Two of RECOVER’s leaders have designed these courses with the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine for vets, veterinary technicians, and students to learn the core veterinary CPR skills needed to increase survival rates in animals experiencing cardiopulmonary arrest.
This Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) course is available for veterinary professionals. This comprehensive and highly engaging course include videos, assignments, and quizzes covering the latest in CPR techniques.

Both BLS and ALS online courses must be completed prior to attending the face-to-face workshop.
After completing the online RECOVER courses, delegates attend the one-day workshop to obtain certification as a RECOVER Certified BLS Rescuers® and RECOVER Certified ALS Rescuers®, being certified by the RECOVER Initiative to be competent in performing veterinary CPR.
Rescuer Certification sessions are conducted by RECOVER Certified BLS Instructors® and RECOVER Certified ALS Instructors®.
This includes both BLS and ALS online courses and you must book and pay for these directly with RECOVER online.
