Calling for Student Volunteers
This year we're bringing our premier veterinary business event, VBG Summit, to the Crown Conference Centre Melbourne from Wednesday 19 – Friday 21 October 2022.
Your role as a volunteer
The main role of student volunteers will be to assist in the business session rooms including scanning delegates name badges on entry, assisting with speaker requirements and assisting at the registration/information desk.
AVA will provide selected AVA student volunteers:
- Share accommodation for the duration of your volunteer role (if required)
- Complimentary conference registration including access to scientific sessions (once duties are completed)
- Complimentary access to the trade exhibition, inclusive of networking events
- Breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided to all students during their rostered shifts
- One VBG Awards dinner ticket – Thursday 20 October (if working the full duration of the event)
Please note that travel to and from the conference venue are at student’s expense (e.g. transfers, parking and or flights).
Quick breakdown of activities for the week
Wednesday 19 October | 4:00pm
Welcome and briefing, tour of conference facilities and general set up as required.
Thursday 20 - Friday 21 October| 6.30am - 7:00pm*
Students will be required to help at one breakfast session (Thursday 20 October). Students who are rostered on will be required to arrive at 6:30am.
During the day all session doors need to be staffed and once all delegates are in their respective sessions and head counts have been completed, you will be able to attend sessions.
There are two networking events in the early evening where the team will need your help.
Staying in contact with the Events Team Student Coordinator will enable you to understand what’s happening each day and what is required of you.
Travel and Accommodation
We will provide all student volunteers with accommodation at a nearby hostel and/or hotel which is close to the venue for the duration of their volunteer role.
Please be aware all travel and transportation costs are at the student’s expense.
Evenings
If you are not rostered on to assist with an event or if there are no functions to attend, evenings are at your own leisure.
Clothes
We encourage students to wear black pants during the conference. Alternatively, we request for you to be dressed smart casual.
The conference committee will provide you with a Student Ambassador Vest so that you are noticeable as Student Representatives.
Please also bring dinner attire for the VBG Awards Dinner if you plan on attending.
How to apply
Each year we receive an abundance of applications and though we would like to take everyone, it’s just not possible. First preference will be given to students who can volunteer for the 2.5 days; Wednesday 19 October (evening) to Friday 21 October (6.00pm).
Applications close Monday 29 August 2022
