Background to the Award

The ASAV student scholarship offers one student member with valuable continuing education as well as an opportunity to network with like-minded professionals. It is our way of thanking our student members for their commitment to the veterinary profession.

There is one ASAV Student Prize on offer for the 2026 ASAV Conference at the Novotel Sunshine Coast, QLD from 17-20 August 2026.  We urge all our ASAV Student members to apply for this scholarship to benefit from an outstanding continuing education program and networking opportunities.

Award inclusions

The winner will attend the 51st ASAV Annual Conference to be held at the Novotel Sunshine Coast, QLD from 17-20 August 2026. The award includes:

  • Full registration for the 2026 ASAV Conference
  • Conference registration and meals with the conference delegates (lunch, morning and afternoon teas)
  • Welcome & Exhibition Opening (Evening session)
  • Happy Hour
  • ASAV Recent Graduate Dinner
  • ASAV Awards Gala Dinner
  • Return flights (if required) to the conference venue, from the winner's nearest capital city.
  • Five nights accommodation (from Sunday evening, 16 August to Friday morning, 21 August).
Award eligibility
  • The prize is open to current ASAV student members across Australia.
  • Applicants should ideally demonstrate involvement in and commitment to small animal practice and/or the ASAV.
  • Applicants may provide examples of specific involvement and use supporting references where available.
  • Applicants should demonstrate an intention to develop career opportunities in the small animal veterinary profession and may provide examples of proposed or completed work experience gained.
  • An eligible applicant may be nominated by another colleague and/or self-nominate.
Application details
  • Applications close on Friday 5 June 2026, 5pm AEST.
  • Winners will be notified by the ASAV Office via email once the scholarship recipients have been selected.
  • Provide a written submission, in no less than 500 words; adressing the above criteria on why you would benefit from receiving the ASAV Student Scholarship Prize.
  • Provide your resumé with the following requirements:
    • in PDF file format
    • within a two (2) page limit
