Member Experience Advisory Group

The Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) is inviting expressions of interest from members and past members who would like to join the Member Experience Advisory Group. This group will play an important role in shaping the member experience program, which is a core priority of the 2025-2028 Strategic Plan. 

The Advisory Group brings member expertise and lived experience into the design, development and delivery of AVA’s new digital systems, processes, platforms and tools. We are looking for curious, constructive members who are willing to test ideas and provide feedback on how AVA’s digital experience evolves over the next two years. 

 

What the Member Experience program will do 

Members will contribute to: 

  • Providing practical insights on the digital experience across the website and other digital touchpoints. 
  • Helping shape priorities, sequencing and decision-making in the member experience roadmap. 
  • Acting as a sounding board for early concepts, prototypes, workflows and service improvements. 
  • Testing digital ideas, processes and experience improvements before broader release. 
  • Demonstrating leadership within their AVA communities by helping members understand and adopt upcoming digital improvements. 
  • This is an advisory group. It is not a decision-making body nor does it set organisational policy. 
 
Who we are looking for 

We are seeking up to six AVA members representing a mix of: 

  • Practice types and workplace settings (clinical, industry, academia, government, allied professionals). 
  • Career stages (students, early career, mid-career, senior, retired representatives). 
  • Regions (metro, regional and rural). 
  • Levels of digital confidence, from tech-aware early adopters to users who find digital systems challenging. 

You do not need to be a technology expert, though members with experience in digital processes, system use, user experience, workflow design or data tools are welcome. 

Most importantly, we are looking for people who: 

  • Are willing to test, learn and iterate. 
  • Can offer constructive feedback. 
  • Are comfortable engaging in honest discussion about what works and what does not. 
  • Want to help shape a better digital experience for the whole profession. 
  • Comply with the AVA Code of Conduct. 
  • Can maintain confidentiality of the group discussions. 
  • Can declare and manage conflicts of interest appropriately. 
 
Your commitment 
  • Monthly online meetings (one hour). 
  • Reviewing materials or prototypes occasionally between meetings. 
  • Providing feedback within three business days where possible. 
  • Attending all meetings (if a member misses more than three meetings, the AVA Executive Team has the option to replace the member). 
  • A two-year commitment (March 2026 to December 2027). 
 
Term and duration 

The Terms of Reference are available. The advisory group will operate from approximately March 2026 to December 2027, commencing from the date of its first meeting. The group may conclude earlier if its advisory role is fulfilled, as determined by AVA Executive Leadership Team.
