Vale Dr Bruce Eastick
11 Dec 2025Dr Bruce Eastick, aged 98, passed away on 5 December 2025. Born on 25 October 1927, he was a dedicated veterinarian who pioneered rural veterinary practice in Gawler, South Australia. Dr Eastick became the first self-employed veterinarian in the area and served as AVA SA Division President in 1961, later becoming the Association President in 1966.
A committed public servant, he represented his community in Parliament for nearly three decades, serving as State Liberal Leader from 1972 to 1975. He was Mayor of Gawler from 1968-1972 and again from 1993-2000. In recognition of his outstanding service, Dr Eastick was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 1996.
He leaves behind a legacy of leadership, dedication, and community service.
