AVA Victorian Division President Update
22 Apr 2026
Dear colleagues,
It is a privilege to introduce myself as the incoming President of the AVA Victorian Division. I am honoured to have the opportunity to support and advocate for our profession at a time of significant change, alongside the ongoing challenges we continue to navigate.
I would like to sincerely acknowledge and thank Dr Cathy Deague for her leadership and dedication over the past three years as President. Cathy’s contribution to strengthening our professional community and representing the interests of Victorian veterinarians has been deeply valued, and I am grateful for the strong foundation she has established.
As President, I am committed to listening to the experiences of veterinarians working across diverse areas of practice, and to ensuring that the Victorian Division continues to advocate effectively on issues that matter to our peers. We are strongest when we are able to share perspectives, raise concerns, and identify opportunities that support both veterinary teams and the communities we serve.
I warmly invite members to reach out regarding matters that may be affecting you, your workplace, or the wider veterinary community in Victoria. Your insights play an important role in shaping our advocacy priorities and informing how we represent the interests of Victorian veterinarians. I can be contacted via publicvetaffairs@ava.com.au.
I look forward to working collaboratively with members, colleagues, and the broader Victorian veterinary community to support a sustainable, inclusive, and forward-looking future for our profession.
Kind regards,
Dr Suff Suharju
President, AVA Victorian Division
