Flynn's Walk is walking and talking to highlight the challenges many in the veterinary field face, spread awareness in the wider community and put the focus on well-being. The next event will be held in Brisbane on Sunday 16 July.

AVA member feedback is sought on the inquiry into the veterinary workforce shortage in NSW. This inquiry presents a unique opportunity for the veterinary profession to voice our concerns, provide valuable insights, and propose meaningful solutions to address the issue of veterinary shortages.

Each year, the AVA awards exceptional individuals for the outstanding work they have done to contribute and enhance the profession and association both domestically and internationally. The 2023 award winners were announced at the AVA Gala Dinner last week.

AVA Policy Advisory Council - policies ratified in the past annual PAC cycle.

At a recent workshop in Melbourne the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council (AVBC) and the Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia (VNCA) agreed to work together to progress the issue of nationally consistent regulation and title protection of veterinary nurses and technicians. 

This week saw veterinary professionals come from all corners of the country to attend the inaugural THRIVE Veterinary Wellness Symposium. The event was extremely well attended, with 140 delegates there to watch three incredible speakers: Paul Davey, Amanda Goodfellow and Olivia (Liv) Oginska.

The Australian Veterinary Association is pleased to see the release of the Animal Health Australia annual report, which outlines many projects which the AVA has contributed to.
