AVA Director Nominations
11 Feb 2026The Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) is seeking nominations for two (2) Director positions from suitably qualified candidates:
AVA Director positions are for a period of three (3) years and are remunerated with a minimum of 5 full day Board meetings per year (face to face or virtual) with Directors required to contribute to the work of Board Committees, and to attend the AVA Conference each year (17-21 May 2026 in Brisbane).
Position Summary: A Director of the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) Board is responsible for contributing to the strategic direction and governance of the AVA. Directors ensure the organisation adheres to its vision, purpose, values, and regulatory obligations while promoting the best interests of the veterinary profession. Position Descriptions are available for these roles outlining the responsibilities and qualifications for a Director of the AVA Board, ensuring effective governance and leadership within the AVA.
The AVA is committed to building a Board that reflects the diversity of the veterinary profession and the communities it serves. We encourage applications from candidates at early and mid-career stages, from people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, as well as individuals with lived experience across disability, age, gender identity, sexual orientation or neurodiversity. Interview: Independent Director applicants must be available for interview on 12 March between 1pm and 5pm AEDT.
