18 Oct 2024
The Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) is thrilled to mark a significant step in the THRIVE Cultivating Safe Teams (CST) Pilot Program, with a Stakeholder Summit being held on Monday 18 November at the Novotel Sydney International Airport.
The AVA has been delivering the psychological health and safety awareness program to veterinary practices across Australia since September 2023. Bringing together experts, pilot program participants and the broader veterinary community, the summit will provide an opportunity to celebrate the outcomes of the CST Pilot Program and share knowledge within a workshop environment.

Workshops will be conducted by Carly Webster from Aspect Group, discussing job design, identifying and assessing psychosocial risks, reward and recognition, poor workplace relationships and high job demands. Attendees will also hear from guest presenter Jorgen Gullestrup, who will share knowledge from his illustrious career in the mental health space which includes being the founding CEO of the workplace mental health and suicide prevention program, ‘MATES in Construction’.
The day will focus on ways we can cultivate a workplace that not only addresses the psychological risks inherent in the veterinary profession but also enhances the overall wellbeing and effectiveness of veterinary teams.
Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the psychological risks and protective factors faced by veterinary teams and walk away with a toolkit generated from summit peers that will serve as a practical guide to implementing positive wellbeing strategies into everyday practice.
With thanks to the generous support of Zoetis Foundation, registration fees have been kept to a minimum to encourage all CST Pilot Program participants and members of the veterinary team to attend. The event is limited to 80 participants, register now to secure your spot.
