African swine fever has been found in China and Western Europe. It is deadly for pigs and is a notifiable disease.

It is important to tag or brand your pigs so they can be traced during disease emergencies. In NSW, every domestic pig needs to tagged or branded/tattooed, and tracked on the NSW Department of Primary Industries PigPass database.
