We are pleased to inform members of the results of the recent Division Elections for the AVA Queensland Division Committee.
Queensland Parliament’s State Development and Regional Industries Committee recently held a hearing into the Agriculture and Fisheries and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2023.
We hope that you will join us in thanking Dr Fiona Duggan for seven years of dedicated work for the Tasmanian Division as President and Executive committee member.

The AVA announces its 2024-2026 SA Division Committee Members
With 2024 well underway, students are returning to universities including the DVM1 students at the University of Melbourne. I had the opportunity to welcome these students to the profession and introduce them to the AVA and the role it can play during their student years, and ongoing throughout their careers.
Over the past few years, the AVA has been advocating on several concerns with the ACT Medicines, Poisons, and Therapeutic Goods (MPTG) legislation and regulation.
A big thank you to everyone who attended the NT AVA weekend conference on the last weekend in February! The feedback has been very positive
The AVA’s over-arching recommendation in their submission to the proposed NT Management Program for the Saltwater Crocodile is that consultation with appropriate subject matter experts, including that of the veterinary profession, is undertaken wherever animal welfare is being considered.
