The AVJ January/February 2026 issue showcases 10 papers across education, ethics and welfare, production animals and small animals.

The NSW Government has released the NSW Wildlife Rehabilitation Review report, committing to adopt all recommendations in full and providing $9 million in funding. The report outlines several findings and recommendations for veterinary professionals involved in wildlife care in NSW.

The Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) is inviting expressions of interest from members and past members who would like to join the Member Experience Advisory Group. This group will play an important role in shaping the member experience program, which is a core priority of the 2025-2028 Strategic Plan.

The Australian Veterinary Association has lodged its 2026–27 Pre-Budget Submission to the Australian Government, calling for targeted investment to secure a sustainable veterinary profession and protect Australia’s animal health, biosecurity and food security.

Guild Insurance regularly manages claims where veterinary equipment has been severely damaged and needs to be repaired or replaced. While insurance is there to ease the burden when these events occur, it’s also important that those using the equipment think about the role they play in this. (Advertorial)

Cyclophosphamide is a type of antineoplastic medication, which is commonly used in chemotherapy and immunosuppressive therapy. It requires metabolic activation to function as an alkylating agent, meaning it is not cytotoxic in its initial state.

Policies developed by AVA’s Policy Council form the basis of AVA’s advocacy submissions and public statements, to advance issues of importance to the profession. They also provide technical and scientific guidance to support the profession.
