A summary of the AVA's advocacy activities for December 2022 and January 2023
The national advocacy plan for 2023 was approved by the AVA Board at the December meeting and is now available for AVA members.
The AVA welcomes the opportunity to provide a submission to the consultation on livestock branding and earmarking in Queensland.

The DVM4 Graduation dinner in December was a glamorous affair. Thank you to Dr Cathy Deague for representing AVA Victorian Division through her address and presentation of prizes.
Although the AVA is supportive of mechanisms to provide no-or low-cost animal health services to increase public compliance, the Victorian Division of AVA believes the burden of discounted services the context of current and emerging financial, workforce and mental health challenges of the veterinary profession needs to be more equitably shared across the community: to balance the substantial benefits that individuals and the community receive from healthy pets in most Australian homes.
To inform and answer the questions from the veterinary profession, a collaborative webinar discussed the changes occurring to veterinary education in Victoria.
