The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action wants your feedback on the draft of Victoria’s Bushfire Management Strategy, which will set the vision for bushfire management in Victoria for the next 10 years.
The AVA are making several representations at the national level advocating for veterinary care to disaster impacted owned animals to be an eligible measure for funding assistance in the national Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

A detection of an EAD in Australia triggers a nationally agreed response structure. Depending on the size of the response, a State Coordination Centre (SCC) and one or more Local Control Centres (LCC) would be established in the affected jurisdiction. Engaged personnel are managed at each of the centres under an organised structure. The structure used in an EAD response, the Australasian Inter-service Incident Management System (AIIMS), is used by all emergency services to manage natural disaster and other emergencies (flood, fire, storms etc.).
The AVA provided information to Animal Welfare Victoria on Cat Management, according to the AVA Management of cats in Australia policy.
The AVA provided a written submission and was involved in workshops to provide information around whether certain notifiable illnesses, including zoonotic illnesses, should have additional reporting requirements to WorkSafe.
