Expressions of interest are open for an AVA representative role on the Queensland Industry Advisory Group (IAG)

10 policies have been ratified, 4 final drafts are ready for ratification, and 7 pre-final drafts are currently open for member comment until 31 July.

The Government is undertaking a staged review of ASEL. Tranche 1 covers penning requirements in registered establishments and pregnancy related requirements. The AVA is preparing a submission and invites member input.

The Tasmanian Government has called an early election for 19 July 2025. The AVA is preparing a 2025 TAS Election Priorities document to outline the key priorities of the Tasmanian veterinary profession. This document will guide our advocacy efforts before and post the July 2025 election, ensuring these veterinary priorities are clearly heard by Government.

The NSW Environment Protection Authority has released a draft Regulatory Impact Statement and Proposed Protection from Harmful Radiation Regulation 2025 for public consultation as the current Regulation (2013) is due for automatic repeal in September 2025.

The Queensland Small Business Commissioner (QSBC) is calling for examples of unnecessary red tape impacting small and family businesses—and this is a valuable opportunity for Queensland veterinarians to be heard.

The AVA is currently preparing a submission on the consultation by the South Australian Department of Primary Industries and Regions (PIRSA) regarding their draft Regulations for the Veterinary Services Act 2023. To assist in this, we are seeking feedback from AVA members by 19 May 2025.

The AVA is seeking Expressions of interest to represent the association on the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council (AVBC) Veterinary Schools Accreditation Advisory Committee (VSAAC).
