The 2026 THRIVE Advisory Committee EOIs are now open. Applications will close on Monday 25th of May. This is a skills-based committee consisting of up to 7 appointees, a board appointed Chair and an AVA staff member, who support the AVA Board and leadership team to successfully deliver THRIVE wellbeing initiatives.

The AVA is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) to provide a recommended nominee for Minister appointment to the NSW Game and Pest Management Advisory Board

The Tasmanian Government has released a Discussion Paper on Cat Management in Tasmania, seeking feedback to inform the next Tasmanian Cat Management Plan. This is a significant opportunity for the veterinary profession to contribute its expertise to state-wide policy affecting cat welfare, wildlife protection, public health and veterinary practice.

This Committee is a skills-based committee of members and staff advising the Board on the AVA’s education priorities and facilitating the implementation of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Strategy 2025-2028. 

The AVA is seeking Expressions of Interest from members interested in hosting AVA client-sponsored webinars throughout 2026.

The AVA is preparing a submission for the review of Occupation Standard Classification for Australia (OSCA). The AVA is aware that there are currently a number of errors in the definitions and welcomes further comments from members to assist in developing the submission.

The AVA is preparing a submission for the WA Parliamentary Inquiry looking at the affordability and accessibility of veterinary care.

The Victorian Government is conducting an Inquiry into the 2026 bushfires across Victoria. The AVA is preparing a submission to the Inquiry and is seeking feedback from members to inform our response.
