The AVA ACT Division Committee is inviting AVA Members to get involved and help shape the future of veterinary practice in the ACT. We currently have casual vacancies on the Committee and are seeking passionate AVA members to join us.

A new AVA working group has been established to tackle the challenges around inconsistent, outdated, and often impractical regulation of veterinary medicines and poisons.

“Dangerous dogs – a sensible solution” is a resource that was developed in 2012 to discuss and suggest a legislative approach to address dogs that may display behaviours dangerous to humans and other animals. As it is now over 12 years since the resource has been developed a review and update is required.

The NSW Government is reviewing how it delivers mental health support across the state – and we want to ensure the voices of veterinarians are heard loud and clear.

Animal Welfare Victoria, part of Agriculture Victoria (DEECA), is reviewing the state’s Domestic Animals Regulations and has released a draft 2025 version and Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) for public comment.

The ACT Government is seeking public input on a new draft Code of Practice for the Welfare of Dogs, which sets out proposed minimum standards and guidelines for the care and management of dogs in the ACT.

AVA Member feedback is sought to inform an AVA submission to the NSW Inquiry on the Game & Feral Animal Legislation Amendment (Conservation Hunting) Bill 2025
