The AVA has been requesting from the Victorian Government additional assistance for veterinarians affected by the floods.
A new Biosecurity Strategy for Victoria is in development, and due for completion by June 2023. The new Strategy will define the future direction of biosecurity in Victoria, and AgVic are working with stakeholder groups across the state to ensure the Strategy ‘hits the mark’.

Agriculture Victoria is calling on the support of private veterinarians to contribute samples from sheep as part of the anthrax immunochromatographic test (ICT) validation project.
Under the Victorian Emergency Animal Welfare Plan (established on recommendation of the Royal Commission of the Black Saturday Bushfires), the AVA is responsible for maintaining a database of veterinary volunteers for the purpose of supplying volunteers to government agencies if the need arises for assistance with bushfires or other animal emergencies.
