NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) with Local Land Services (LLS) will facilitate a range of emergency animal disease (EAD) surveillance and preparedness initiatives throughout 2023.
The NSW Government is subsidising veterinary laboratory testing for new livestock disease investigations until 30th June 2023. Testing is available for disease investigations conducted by private veterinarians on livestock that are susceptible to foot-and-mouth disease.

Brucella suis has been detected in two dogs located in the Lake Macquarie region of NSW. Veterinarians are advised to review their risk management systems, including the use of PPE to minimise the risk of transmission of Brucella suis to humans or uninfected animals.
