The Western Australian Division is active in lobbying government on issues relating to animal welfare and veterinary practice in Western Australia.

The Division holds an annual conference and trade fair. Educational and social events are also held through the WA Branches.

The Division actively participates in the AVA Graduate Mentor Program, where new graduates are partnered with a volunteer mentor to support them in their first year in practice.

From January this year the AVA has been actively advocating on behalf of members throughout the consultation, release, and initial implementation stages of the amended Veterinary Practice Regulations 2022.
